They reached the edge of Angel Grove lake, as evening sun touched the water in a breathtaking display of rippling light. They sat down next to a tree on the shores edge and Billy sensing the urgency of the problem launched straight in.

"Kim I need to know what is going on!" he asked.Why was it, Red Ranger wondered, that every time he came to Edenoi, he found himself being attacked by the people he'd come to help? His first trip, he'd nearly been beaten senseless by the Masked Rider. Now he was staring into the business end of a blaster, held by a resistance member that he'd just rescued from Dregon's Plague Patrol.
          "Um, did someone forget to tell you that we're the good guys?" Zack asked hopefully. The smaller Edenite, the one who held the gun, just shifted so that she could better cover the five of them. The courtyard was welcoming in the way that all familiar places are after an absence, no matter how brief, and Cassie smiled involuntarily as she realized how quickly this place had become her home. She wasn't on vacation, as she had pretended at first, or enjoying it only because Saryn did. She was truly happy here, with friends and their families giving the community a sense of permanence.

She picked up one of Shei's toys and set it under the shaded promenade, where the sun wouldn't fade the colors so quickly, and took a deep breath before heading inside. The door was open and the scent of dinner greeted her the moment she stepped through, both good and normal signs. She was probably making this into more than it was, but then, that had always been Saryn's specialty.

He was standing behind the counter by the stove when she came in. His eyes were fixed on something outside the windows, or maybe he was just staring off into the distance. The intensity of his gaze made it hard to tell sometimes. He didn't turn at her entrance, though he must have known she was there.

          Red Ranger, looking at the brown-haired, brown-eyed man beside her, finally felt the sensation of recognition click into his mind. "Donaeus?" he asked.

"What do you mean?" Kim hesitantly fielded the question. Her guilty glance at the ground, confirmed Billy's suspicions. She did have a secret. Maybe...maybe she was under a spell, or put up to splitting apart the Power Rangers in some way by blackmail or one of the many other ploys that had been used to turn people against them in the past. There could be no other explanation for the complete disintegration of the team in such a short space of time. He had to make her see what had happened.
